When you decide to buy a Diamond, for your engagement, wedding, birthday or just to say "I love you" There are lots of things to concider. You have to decide exactly what you are looking for what you are actually being offered. How do you know what is a good Diamond? First go to a reputable jeweller, one recommended by others is a good start. Then think about the 4 Cs as these determine the quality of your stone.
The 4 Cs:
- CARAT This gives you the size of your Diamond but remember a large stone is not always the best stone.
- CUT This not necessarily the shape of the stone, it is the way a craftsman to cut facets in the stone so that gives the best use of light. This is the most important of the 4 Cs as the better the cut the more fabulous your diamond. An experienced craftsman can also reduce any flaws in the stone by the way he cuts it.
- COLOR This the only one of the 4Cs that is determined not by men but by nature. The nearer to colorless the more valuable and rare your Diamond.
- CLARITY This the indication of the Diamonds purity. Some flaws are not able to be seen by the naked eye so the expert will look using a special magnifying glass. An expert cutter may be able to reduce these blemishes.
